TEENS ARE WELCOME

WHEN?
The American College of Ob-Gyn recommends that teenage girls have their first visit to a gynecologist between the ages of 13 and 15. A pelvic exam is usually not necessary depending upon symptoms or risks. Subsequent visits are approximately annually.

WHAT?
We will discuss the following:
    •Body Image                                            •Mood
        •Media Influences                                     •PMS
        •Healthy Diet                                            •Self Esteem
        •Exercise                                                  •Depression
    •Sexuality                                                  •Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking
        •Healthy Relationships                                •Exposure
        •STD Prevention                                        • Risks
        •Pregnancy Prevention                                •Addiction

WHY?

This is a time of many physical and emotional changes. Your daughter may be challenged by situations and decisions that she wishes to keep confidential from you.
She needs accurate and complete health information. By establishing a rapport with a health care provider early, she will have easy and comfortable access to our services as her need arises.
Your daughter’s safety is first and foremost.

WHO?
Women Physicians Gyn has offered a teen friendly comprehensive adolescent/young adult health program since 2003. Our physicians and staff strive to reduce the anxiety of a first visit while maintaining complete confidentiality. We have handouts designed specifically for teens and references to appropriate web sites.
Let us help you and your daughter navigate the teenage years.

WHAT'S NEXT?

To make an appointment, call our office at 650-988-7550.  We recommend you allow 1 to 1.5 hours for the first appointment.  Please bring in the completed medical history form which includes information on family history that teens may need help answering.  It is also helpful to print, discuss, and sign the teen confidentiality agreement prior to the first visit.
