Rita A. Leard, M.D., FACOG

Rita Leard, M.D.

Dr. Leard grew up with her ten siblings in Columbus, Ohio.  After receiving a B.S. in Biology from the University of Notre Dame, she returned to Columbus to attend medical school at The Ohio State University where she received her Medical Degree in 1986.  She completed her internship in Baltimore, Maryland at Union Memorial Hospital and then her OB/GYN residency at The Ohio State University in 1990.

Dr. Leard joined OB/GYN Consultants in Phoenix, Arizona that year and practiced there for more than two years.  In 1993 she moved to Palo Alto and began her life in Silicon Valley.  Dr. Leard initially was in the OB/GYN department at Camino Medical Group (formerly Sunnyvale Medical Clinic) until 1998.  She has been practicing with WPMG since January 1999. 

Dr. Leard is currently serving a term as Chief of the Department of OB/GYN at El Camino Hospital until July 2007.  In addition, she is a long time member of the hospital's MCH Partnership Council and the Perinatal Committee.

She received her board certification in OB/GYN in 1992 and is a fellow of the American College of OB/GYN.

In her spare time, Dr. Leard enjoys cooking, singing with the Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale, hiking and enjoying the spectacular cultural and natural bounties of the Bay Area.
