Laboratory

The El Camino Hospital medical laboratory maintains a facility in our office, making blood tests convenient for you and allowing us to obtain test results quickly.  The length of time to receive lab results vary according to the test.

We will notify you of all lab and x-ray results except for normal routine annual pap smears and mammograms.  If you would like to be notified about your annual pap smear result, please let us know at the time of your visit. We track all Pap smears taken and cross-check that they are reported back to us.

If you get a mammogram, the mammography center will notify you directly with the results. If you have not heard from us or the mammography center within two weeks, please contact our office.

You will receive a separate bill from the lab for all blood tests, pap smears, cultures, and biopsy specimens.  Your insurance plan may not pay for some of these tests; insurance coverage for lab tests is not universal.  Pricing is also variable depending on the lab and whether or not it is contracted with your insurance.
